Clover Content
You've probably heard of our flagship product, Clover Content. It's sweeping the nation and has become a household name. Okay, maybe it's not that famous yet. Clover is a content management system that we developed and offer for free.
Why A Content Management System?
There certainly is no shortage of content management systems in the world. The open source coummunity has several great systems, and many advanced publishing platforms exist with robust functionality. The problem with modern content management systems is that they are too complex, too difficult to set up and they usually implement way more functionality than most simple websites will ever use, or care to learn to use.
Clover Content is more of an add-on, or a site enhancement. It is easy to set up (we set it up for you), you don't have to change web hosts or have a particular server technology available, there are no installs and most of all, it's really easy to use. That's why we created a better content management system. Because content management should be easy.
What's the Story?
We have developed numerous custom content management systems for clients over the years and installed our fair share of open source content management systems as well. It always seemed like the off-the-shelf systems were trying to do too much. They are great systems; they just offer more functionality and complexity than simple websites need. Most small businesses can't afford a custom cms system so that's not a viable alternative.
Clover Content started at the end of 2007. Don, our founder, was trying to set up a website for a friend. It was a simple site and only required a little bit of functionality; common functionality. Using a popular open source cms, Don proceeded to instruct this friend how to use the newly installed system. While explaining how to use the cms, Don realized it was just too complex. There was too steep of a learning curve and all the other systems are the same way, so Don decided to write a new type of cms system. A cms system that is as easy to use as it is to implement. And that's how Clover Content came to be. That friend's site now uses Clover Content and there have been no questions about how to use it.
